The Virginia

The Virginia Room, was named after the first ship built in North America in 1607, by colonists of the Popham Colony.

This two bedroom, one bath suite located on the 2nd floor in the oldest part of the inn, is perfect for friends or family traveling together. The main bedroom has a king-size bed, decorative marble fireplace and sitting area nestled into a bay of windows facing the homes in the historic distric. The second bedroom has a full-size bed and enjoys views of the Kennebec River. The windows in these rooms are large and plentiful and can be opened to create fresh cross-breezes. The private bath has a tub/shower combination.

The Wyoming

The Wyoming Room is named after the largest wooden ship ever built, a six-masted schooner built in Bath in 1909.

A beautiful vintage four-poster queen size bed faces a decorative marble fireplace in the Wyoming Room, located upstairs in the oldest part of the house. With a west-facing view of beautiful old and historic homes, a loveseat offers a place to sit and relax. Frequently requested by business travelers and history buffs, the Wyoming Room welcomes you back from a busy day and lures you to a restful night’s sleep in the comfort of the four poster bed. The Wyoming Room has a private ensuite bathroom with a tub/shower combination and bidet.

The Vadette

The Vadette is named after a steel-hulled, steam yacht built here in 1899. In 1916, the yacht was acquired by Frederick W. Vanderbilt and renamed Vedette.

The Vadette is located at the top of the main staircase in the oldest part of the Inn. It spans the center of the house, with windows on each side – a classic New England accommodation with a view of the Kennebec River. This large and airy room offers room to spread out and relax, and the soft New England color palette will lull you into a good night’s sleep. It features an enchanting sitting area with loveseat and chair nestled into a bank of windows, king-sized spool bed, writing desk, and private bathroom with tub/shower combination. Combine the Vadette and Corsair to create a two-bedroom, two-bath suite.

The Corsair

The Corsair is named after the Corsair IV, a ship built here in 1930 for JP Morgan, Jr. After sailing the Atlantic, he gifted her to the British for WWII, after which she became a cruise ship on the Pacific.

Located up the back stairs, the Corsair spans the center of the house with windows on each side bringing ample light and allowing for refreshing cross breezes. The room has a four-poster queen-sized bed and a reading corner with loveseat and built-in bookcase concealing a door to the adjoining Vadette Room. The private bath has a marble tile floor, step-in shower with built-in seat, pedestal sink, and a bidet. Combine the Corsair and Vadette to create a two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite.

The Taylor

The Taylor is named for the USS Taylor, a Fletcher Class Destroyer built and launched in 1942 during World War II. It was given good fortune at her launch, as she never lost a sailor during the war.

Located up the back stairs of the Inn, with expansive view of the Kennebec River, the Taylor faces east catching the first of the morning rays. This spacious room includes a king bed, sitting perch in the window, and a sitting area in front of the old brick (decorative only) fireplace. Sit and unwind taking in the view or select a book from the bookcases that line a corner of the room. The private bath has a tub/shower combo, wide plank pine floors, and plenty of room for your personal necessities. The Taylor combines nicely with the Corsair across the hall for guests traveling together.

The Arleigh Burke

The Arleigh Burke Room is named for the original USS Arleigh Burke, the lead ship of Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers. She was built by Bath Iron Works and launched September 16, 1989.

A romantic room at the garden level, The Arleigh Burke offers a taste of rustic Maine with a wood-burning fireplace and two-person whirlpool tub. Soak in the whirlpool tub facing the fireplace while you indulge in a peaceful retreat from the world. The room has a built-in queen four-poster bed and private bathroom with step-in shower. A DVD player and library of movies, TV programs and wood for the fireplace complete this private getaway. Combine the Arleigh Burke and Stockdale to create a 2-bedroom, 2-bath suite.

The Stockdale

Named for the USS Stockdale, currently home-ported in San Diego, a destroyer Built by Bath Iron Works and launched in 2008. She is currently home-ported in San Diego, CA.

A romantic room with a private entrance off the patio, The Stockdale offers a taste of rustic Maine with a whirlpool tub and wood-burning fireplace. Cuddle up in the whirlpool tub facing the romantic fireplace, or enjoy the patio just outside your door. The perfect place to enjoy breakfast in the warmer months. The Stockdale features a queen-sized bed and a private bathroom with step-in shower and bidet. The Stockdale Room welcomes your pet dog. Wood is provided for use in the fireplace. The Stockdale and Arleigh Burke can combine to create a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom suite.
