Bath, ME is the perfect destination for anyone after an off-the-beaten-path getaway. Our historic city’s tree-lined streets hearken back to a rich maritime history. The city’s 19th-century architecture, thriving arts scene, and outdoor activities like tours on the Kennebec River provide an enticing blend for any visitor.
The Chocolate Church, located at 804 Washington Street, and just a half mile from The Inn at Bath, serves as an important hub for Bath’s lively arts scene. The popular venue hosts year-round performances, lectures, workshops, and more that never fail to draw an audience.
The Chocolate Church Arts Center began its life as an actual church in 1847, as evidenced by its Gothic Revival architecture. The building’s classic soaring windows, high wooden vaults, and stained glass made it a beloved local landmark.
Repurposed as a nonprofit regional arts center in 1977, it now lives as a vibrant part of Bath’s cultural heartbeat.
Haunted Ragtime Halloween
The Haunted Ragtime Halloween at the Chocolate Church isn’t your typical costume party. With the haunted décor, immersive projections, costumed attendees, and live music, expect more than a few chills – in the best possible way! The event is scheduled for November 1st, 2025, from 6pm-10pm.
Doors open at 6pm with food trucks and ghostly photo booths in the Annex. This gives attendees time to fuel up and get into the spirit before the night’s performances.
A group swing dance lesson takes place in front of the main stage at 6:30pm. No experience is necessary, just bring your enthusiasm!
The energy turns up at 7pm, as the Ragtime Destroyers hit the main stage. Their spine-tingling set of ragtime-inspired tunes with a spectral flair will kick the scene into high gear.
Doctor Gasp takes over at 8:45pm, for a more underground, eerie late-night performance.
Haunted Ragtime Halloween promises a night that’s part dance party, part theater, part haunted house – and all in a historic building dripping with gothic character.
