Explore Haunted Bath Maine at Dead Reckoning
Maine Maritime Museum’s popular Halloween experience returns for four evenings in October, 2026. This year’s Dead Reckoning: Shipyard Death & Disturbances invites visitors to explore the museum’s historic shipyard after dark.
The self-guided experience uses the Bloomberg Connects app to share chilling audio stories inspired by the shipyard’s darker history. Visitors can wander at their own pace, hearing accounts of dangerous working conditions, tragic incidents, and unexplained disturbances.
Bring a flashlight and prepare to see a different side of Bath’s maritime heritage!
Ghost Ships, Shipyard Mysteries, and a Séance
This year’s event offers several interactive experiences that go well beyond a traditional ghost tour.
In the Carroll A. Deering Escape Room, participants investigate the mystery of a Bath-built schooner that became one of America’s most famous ghost ships. The vessel was discovered abandoned off the North Carolina coast in 1921, and the fate of its crew remains a mystery.
The Mysteries of the Mill explores some of the shipyard’s more disturbing stories, while the Blacksmith Shop offers a less frightening experience centered on Bath’s Great Fire of 1913, complete with lantern making and nighttime blacksmith demonstrations.
For those seeking an extra thrill, a limited number of visitors can participate in a séance experience inside the historic Donnell House. This candlelit activity takes guests into parts of the building not normally open to the public.
Whether you’re fascinated by maritime history or simply enjoy a good scare, Dead Reckoning offers a memorable Halloween adventure.

Discover Bath’s Historic Atmosphere
Even without a ghostly encounter, Bath’s historic streets offer plenty of atmosphere for an October getaway.
The city’s shipbuilding heritage stretches back centuries, and its impressive collection of 19th-century homes recalls the days when ship captains, merchants, and maritime industries shaped the community.
Take a stroll through Bath’s historic district, explore its distinctive architecture, and enjoy the quieter pace of autumn along the Kennebec River. It’s an inviting contrast to the excitement of an evening spent exploring the shipyard’s darker stories.
